Hi there!

So I’m thinking about starting this new thing for the blog to celebrate the launch of my Facebook page (CLICK) where I go around asking my interesting friends a series of food-related questions, kind of like a mini interview. I thought it would be fun to see how much we could learn more about a person through their love of food.

But since I couldn’t think about who to interview yet, I thought I would start off with me. (yes…that’s the best I could do for now. ha ha) Although it felt a little funny answering my own questions I must admit, but I thought it would be nice for you all to get to know me a little better through my thoughts on all things culinary and also for you all to give me feedback on how you like this idea and what you think about the questions etc. So here goes!

What’s Cookin? – Nida

1.       Are you a good cook? คุณทำอาหารเก่งไหม

I’m almost clueless when it comes to cooking; but I would say that I’m a passionate baker who still has a lot to learn. ทำอาหารไม่ค่อยรอด แต่ชอบทำขนมมากและคิด(หวัง)ว่าทำอร่อยใช้ได้นะคะ

2.       What’s the meanest dish you could cook/bake? อาหารจานไหนที่มั่นใจว่าทำอร่อยที่สุด

I bake really awesome gooey brownies with too much chocolate for my heart’s health. (my family and friends who have tried said it’s the best they’ve had, and, yes, I know that’s a bold statement :p!) ครอบครัวและเพื่อนๆบอกว่าบราวนี่ของนิดาอร่อยมากกกกจริงๆนะ

3.       Where was your most memorable restaurant experience? ร้านอาหารที่น่าประทับใจที่สุด

Per Se, New York.

4.       What’s your worst food memory? ความทรงจำเกี่ยวกับอาหารที่แย่ที่สุด

Waiting in line for 1.5 hrs at the 53rd and 6th Halal Cart in New York City at 4 am only to go home empty-handed because people in line got so impatient and started punching each other (true story!) ตอนที่ไปรอกินคาบับข้างถนนที่นิวยอร์ก 1.5 ช.ม.ตอนดีสี่แต่กลับไม่ได้กินเพราะมีคนในแถวต่อยกัน

5.       Compare yourself to a dish, what would you be? ถ้าให้เปรียบตัวเองเป็นอาหาร จะเป็นอาหารจานไหน Spagetti with corned beef and chillies because I’m a whole bunch of cultures all rolled into one. สปาเกตตี้คอร์นบีฟใส่พริกขี้หนูเพราะว่าเป็นการผสมปนเประหว่างหลายๆชาติ วัฒนธรรม

6.       Compare your ideal type to a dish, what would he/she be? ถ้าให้เปรียบชาย/หญิงในดวงใจของเป็นอาหาร เค้า/เธอจะเป็นอาหารจานไหน

Bread because it’s so versatile and good with almost anything. It could be sweet with some nutella on top, savory like a warm olive foccacia, or spicy like the fusion chilli paste flavored pork floss-filled ones. I love variety and surprises! ขนมปัง เพราะว่าสามารถเข้ากับอะไรได้ง่ายๆ ทานกับอะไรก็อร่อยไม่ว่าจะเป็นของหวานแบบนัทเทลล่า หรือ คาวแบบขนมปังฟอคาเชียอุ่นๆใส่มะกอก หรือว่าเผ็ดแบบขนมปังหมูหยอกน้ำพริกเผา

7.       When you are trying to impress someone, where do you take them? ถ้าต้องการให้ใครสักคนประทับใจ จะพาไปไหน

My house and I’d ask him to cook dinner together. พามาทำอาหารด้วยกันที่บ้านน่าจะดีกว่าค่ะ

8.       Best food to eat on a first date? เดทแรกควรทานอะไรดี

Anything but Korean BBQ, you don’t want to smell like a walking kalbi when he kisses you goodbye! อะไรก็ได้ที่ไม่ใช่เนื้อย่างเกากลี เพราะตอนลากันอยากจะลาแบบสวยๆไม่ใช่กลิ่นเหมือนเตาBBQเคลื่อนที่

9.       Describe your ideal meal if your budget was unlimited? มื้ออาหารในฝันถ้าไม่มีบัทเจ็ท

I would like to visit El Bulli, Spain, once before it closes down permanently this year. อยากไปร้าน El Bulli ที่ Spainสักครั้งก่อนมันจะปิดถาวร

10.   Any strange eating habits? นิสัยการกินแปลกๆ

I eat brussel sprouts with num prik ชอบกินน้ำพริกหมุ่มกับผัก brussel sprouts

11.   What’s the strangest food you’ve ever eaten? อาหารที่แปลกที่สุดที่เคยกิน

I’m really not a big fan of strange meats. So a wild boar was as adventurous as I could go. ไม่เคยรู้สึกอยากลองกินเนื้อแปลกๆต่างๆทุกชนิด แค่หมูป่าก็หยึยๆแล้วค่ะ

12.   If you’re stuck with one dish for the rest of your life, what would you choose? ถ้าต้องทานอาหารจานเดียวไปตลอดชีวิต จะเลือกทานอะไร

Som tum! (papaya salad.) ส้มตำ กินได้กินดีไม่มีวันเบื่อค่ะ

13.   What’s your go to/ brainless dish? อาหารสิ้นคิด

Again, it would be “som tum Thai” since I’m already pretty much eating it almost every day. ส้มตำไทย เพราะตอนนี้ก็ทานอยู่เกือบทุกวัน

14.   It’s Friday night, where could we find you and what drink would you be holding? เจอคุณได้ที่ไหนในคืนวันศุกร์ และคุณกำลังดื่มอะไรอยู่

Most likely I’ll be holding glass of champagne at a new restaurant that I’m trying out for my blog. น่าจะกำลังดื่มแชมเปญอยู่ที่ร้านอาหารใหม่ที่จะเอามาลงในบล๊อคนะคะ

15.   Do you read food blogs, if so, which ones? อ่านบล๊อคเกี่ยวกับอาหารมั้ย ถ้าอ่านๆอันไหนบ้าง

My list is endless! My favorite is ChezPim,  but I’m also constantly discovering new blogs daily on tastespotting.com มีเยอะมากกกกก เพราะติด tastespotting.com แต่ที่ชอบที่สุดคือของ ChezPim
